Ni hao from China! After months of planning, praying, learning and fund-raising, we are finally here! Hootie hoo! And after 30 hours of traveling, three planes, three countries, two six-hour layovers and one Starbucks frappuccino we arrived at 1:00am in Yinchuan, China (China time). We left on Friday and arrived on Sunday. (Saturday got lost somewhere in there.)
Since being here we have been enjoying spending time with Kathryn's friends. Seeing their city, eating lots of great Chinese food and interacting with the people in the community who have been so kind and friendly to us.
Highlights have included the Great Wall ruins, sharing American culture with an English class of 50 college students, visiting a Muslim village and the oldest mosque in Ningxia (600 years).
For fun we joined the locals in their nightly ballroom dancing in the park. They embraced us with open arms and definitely danced better than we did!
We're headed out tonight on the overnight train to Xi'An and will be arriving around noon on Wednesday. Stay tuned for pictures and stories from the far east!
